As the world’s only crowd-sourced report on renewable energy, the Renewables Global Status Report (GSR) is in a class of its own. It covers policies, markets, and much more, while telling the most up-to-date global story on renewable energy.
Since 2005, the GSR has worked with its many contributors to put the spotlight on ongoing developments and emerging trends that shape the future of renewable energy. Producing this report each year is a truly collaborative effort of hundreds of experts contributing data, reviewing chapters and co-authoring the report. Read more here.
Renewables 2025 Global Status Report
The 2025 edition marks the GSR’s 20th anniversary. This year, the GSR 2025 builds on the modular format introduced in recent years, offering an even more accessible and comprehensive view of global renewable energy progress. This year’s edition features an expanded set of factsheets that provide concise, sector specific insights across both supply and demand, reflecting the latest developments in renewable energy. Together, these publications offer a systemic and cross-sectoral overview of the uptake, impact and integration of renewables worldwide.
The Global Overview, published 24 June 2025, will offer a detailed picture of a global energy system at a turning point — with record renewable deployment, but systemic barriers slowing progress. This year’s report maps the current state of renewables in the context of rising energy demand, shifting policy landscape, and the imperative to deliver on global climate and development goals.
