Last November we launched the Renewables in Cities Global Status Report. After several presentations around the world, such as COP25 in Madrid in December and World Urban Forum in Abu Dhabi in February, we decided to bring the report to life in three webinars available the upcoming weeks where participants have the chance to learn about the key findings of the report and engage with the REN21 team to ask questions. Exchanging ideas and discussing renewable energy development is the essence of REN21, so we encourage you to register and together spark the debate.
Cities and Citizen Participation
Europe, 18 February, 15:00 Paris (CEST)
Sub-Saharan Africa
Europe, 25 March, 15:00 Paris (CEST)

Once again, we are partnering with the Clean Energy Solutions Center in two webinars which will cover the key findings of the Renewables in Cities Global Status Report presented by our Project Manager & Analyst, Lea Ranalder. Each presentation will discuss the challenges and the role that ambitious and integrated policy plays to enable an increasing share of renewables in the energy transformation at a city-level.
The first one called Cities and Citizen Participation will focus on how citizens are driving the energy transition at the local level with renewables as their engagement is emerging as an important means of gaining public support for and sustaining momentum in the energy transition, as well as for driving more-ambitious goals at the national level. Our member Energy Cities will also be presenting some examples of participatory governance and citizen participation in European cities. This will be followed by a Q&A. Register here.
The second one called The Sub-Saharan Africa not only will draw from the REC-GSR report but also the upcoming report featuring the region itself. The discussion will focus on how Sub-saharan local governments have an opportunity to influence urban growth whilst at the same time as meeting the service needs of its populations, followed by a Q&A. Renewables in Cities & lessons learned from scaling up solar PV
February 26, 10AM EST

Co-hosted with International Solar Energy Society, our project manager Lea Ranalder will give an overview of the REC-GSR, with a special focus on solar PV and solar thermal. Municipal governments have shown leadership by installing rooftop solar PV systems on public buildings such as schools, administrative buildings, and community centres which is why the webinar will also bring to the discussion the city of Sydney in order to illustrate their renewables and solar PV strategy.
