Why is REN21 going to COP?
For over a decade, REN21 has brought the renewable energy voice to the UN Climate Conference (COP) — connecting governments, industry, and civil society to accelerate the shift to renewables. At COP30 in Belém, Brazil, we’re highlighting how renewables are transforming economies, strengthening energy security, and building resilience in the face of climate change.
Our Message: Renewables Are the Foundation of a Resilient Future
- Renewables for Resilience: Renewables are already driving adaptation on the ground. To truly deliver the Global Goal on Adaptation, COP30 must recognise renewables as a cornerstone of economic, climate and societal resilience.
- Renewables for Energy Security: By cutting import dependence and stabilising prices, renewables enhance national security, economic competitiveness, and social stability.
- Renewables-Based Economy: A renewables-based economy drives innovation and inclusive growth, building future-ready industries and improving livelihoods across all regions.
Join the conversation!
From 10 November, REN21 will be in Belém calling for greater focus and financing to amplify the role of renewables in climate action.
