REN21, in cooperation with UNIDO and SACREEE, has published the second edition of the SADC Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Status Report!
The 2018 edition builds on the initial report issued in 2015 and provides an updated review of renewable energy and energy efficiency developments in the SADC region, as well as, an outlook on opportunities and perspectives in meeting the region’s need for accessible, clean and sustainable energy. Since 2015 the SADC region has seen an increase in the number and quality of its renewable energy and energy efficiency policies. By mid-2018, the SADC region had 21,760 MW of installed renewable energy capacity with another 17,361 MW of renewables capacity reaching financial closure and awaiting commissioning.
