Renewables in Cities Global Status Report Data Collection is now open

We invite you to be part of the inclusive effort to create data-based evidence on the role that cities and local initiatives play in advancing the global renewable energy transformation! We are calling for contributors to engage with the data collection process for the first edition of the Renewables in Cities Global Status Report series. Deadline has been extended until 18 March.       We are seeking input on:     Drivers for renewable energy in cities Targets and policies Innovative business models How financing is mobilised Citizen involvement           As this is a collaborative effort, REN21 invites a variety of players to submit information. Whether you are a city-level stakeholder, city expert, or come from industry, NGO, science or academia, if you have information on renewables in cities to share, we invite you to fill in this questionnaire.   Thank you for supporting us in shaping the energy debate in order to advance the transition to renewable energy in cities!   Your participation is critical for the production of a balanced, comprehensive and high-quality first Renewables in Cities Global Status Report. Launch of SADC Report

  We are excited to announce the launch of the 2018 SADC Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Status Report on 20 February 2019 in Johannesburg, South Africa. The report will be launched at the Africa Energy Indaba conference. The 2018 edition of the SADC report builds on the initial report issued by REN21 in 2015 and provides an updated review of renewable energy and energy efficiency developments in the SADC region, including market trends, achievements in renewable energy on- and off-grid, achievements in energy efficiency, evolving policy landscapes and investment flows.

GSR2019 Technology Data Collection now open

The GSR is a collaborative effort, bringing together many minds to inform on the status of renewable energy uptake worldwide. Your input would make a big difference. As with previous editions, we invite contributions based on your expertise on renewable energy technologies by taking part in the GSR2019 Market & Industry chapter.   We are seeking input on:   different technologies’ energy markets (including data for key countries/regions and global data for 2018) industry developments and new/ongoing trends any other noteworthy information from 2018. We welcome information in the form ofreports, lists, spreadsheets, or any other format sent to gsr@ren21.net ideally by February 17. We can also arrange a time to speak via phone if you prefer.   Finally, mark your calendar for the Expert Peer Review, which is currently scheduled to take place April 2-12 and will include all technology sections as well as the Global Overview and the Renewable Energy Jobs and Costs sidebars – make sure your voice is heard!   Your participation is critical for the production of another balanced, comprehensive and high quality GSR. Webinar Towards Decarbonising Transport

Don’t miss a joint webinar of REN21, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and Agora Verkehrswende 22 January at 14:00 CEST. The webinar will present the main conclusions of the joint report “Towards Decarbonising Transport 2018 – A Stocktake on Sectoral Ambition in the G20”.   The report provides a clear picture of the state of G20 transport emissions, analyses already existing approaches for decarbonising the transport sector, and stresses the urgency of putting ambitious climate action on the political agenda. It includes fact sheets on each G20 member that shed light on the specific situation in each country, including goals and efforts in decarbonising transport.   To register click here.
