Preceding the Washington International Renewable Energy Conference (WIREC)
2008, the Steering Committee met for a one-day meeting in Washington.
As the WIREC conference marked the arrival of renewable energy as a
major and mainstream option for the future of energy systems around the
world, REN21 used this occasion to look back at its past work in light
of its mission to support the rapid increase of the use of renewables
worldwide.
Looking to the future, the participants set the strategic orientation of
the Network in the coming years, and discussed and decided on a number of
concrete projects to be undertaken in the coming months, including the
Global Status Report and the Washington International Action Programme.
