6-7 May 2006: Fourth Steering Committee Meeting in New York
Between the two weeks of the CSD-14 Conference at the UN Headquarters, the REN21 Steering Committee came together for its fourth meeting.

The pressing issue of Energy Security was discussed, for which IEA had presented a draft report.

The Interim Report on the implementation of the International Action Programme of the Bonn Conference was presented by the Secretariat. Based on this report, the SC discussed ways of how to support the UN Commission on Sustainable Development in developing a review arrangement for renewable energy commitments.

The SC also agreed upon the other central tasks to be addressed during the next years - such as extension and continued updating of the Global Status Report - and exchanged their views on relevant past and upcoming events and initiatives.

With regard to governance, the SC confirmed its composition with some modifications and elected Mohamed El-Ashry as new Chair.
