2-3 June 2005: Second Steering Committee Meeting in Copenhagen
At its second meeting, the Steering Committee celebrated the official launch of REN21 in the presence of the Danish Minister for the Environment, Connie Hedegaard - precisely one year after the Bonn renewables conference.

The network structure and governance issues were considerably advanced: Steering Committee membership terms shall generally be of two years, with re-election being possible. A Chair, five Vice-Chairs, and the head of the Secretariat will constitute the Bureau, which will guide the network and take decisions between meetings of the Steering Committee. A Participation Committee will develop guidelines for association of the wider RE community and fincancial partners with the network, encouraging also the formation of thematic issue groups. The Secretariat will be provided by GTZ and UNEP and based in Paris. They will collaborate with IEA and with one or more organisation(s) representing developing countries.

SC members also discussed a set of issue papers and looked ahead at outreach opportunities and activities planned for the coming years, giving further shape to the Work Plan.
