The Steering Committee came together at the International Energy
Agency's office in November 2008. The meeting took place following the
"European Union Presidency Renewable Energy Policy Forum" in Paris.
Building on the discussions held in Washington, the Steering Committee
further defined the central role of REN21 and the core tasks for the
coming years. The strategy for expansion of the Network, its
communications, and funding were also reviewed, and cooperation with the
future IRENA envisaged.
The SC also discussed the role of renewables in
light of current affairs, in particular the financial crisis and climate
change policy discussions on a post-2012 framework.
