Public Financing

The availability of funding for renewable energy development is essential for the continued growth of these technologies. Two main methods of public financing are the ways in which governments assist in allocating the necessary capital to the renewables sector. One assists in the distribution of funding for implementation, while the other is a means for awarding contracts.  Financial support from national and sub-national governments helps to fund infrastructure development and award contracts for construction and operation as well as for fixed quantities of renewable capacity.  Public financing strategies have been implemented in a variety of countries and can be used for the development of a multitude of different RE technologies.
